Erold Merko
Officer of the National Albanian Registry — an unpaid volunteer, like the whole board.
About Erold
Erold is from Erseka and has lived in Michigan since his teens. He has spent more than 20 years in financial services — he started at a bank in 2002, has been a licensed Financial Advisor since 2007, and works today as a senior wealth-management professional.
As Treasurer of the National Albanian Registry, he keeps the books, signs the checks, and closes the year. In a volunteer organization asking people to trust it with their names, the money side has to be boring and clean — that is his job, and he treats it that way.
His reason for doing this is Michigan itself. The state holds one of the largest Albanian communities in America, and he has watched it organize in parallel for decades — by church, by mosque, by hometown. Erold wants the community to be counted across those lines, not within them, so the kids growing up in Michigan inherit one Albanian identity instead of several smaller ones.
