Dielli (The Sun) — press organ of Vatra

Dielli, or "The Sun," is the Albanian-language newspaper published by Vatra, the Pan-Albanian Federation of America. It operates from Vatra's headquarters at 2437 Southern Boulevard in the Bronx and reaches readers online at gazetadielli.com.

The paper was founded on February 15, 1909 in Boston, born out of the patriotic society Besa-Besë associated with Fan Noli. Since 1912 it has served as the official press organ of Vatra, which was formed that April as a unification of Albanian associations in the United States. That continuity makes Dielli the oldest Albanian-language newspaper still publishing.

Its masthead describes the paper as "devoted to the intellectual and cultural advancement of the Albanians in America." Coverage centers on Albanian-American community life, Albania, and Kosovo, with commentary, reportage, and cultural writing aimed at the diaspora. In its earlier decades the paper was a vehicle for advocacy around Albanian self-government, and it has continued a public-affairs role on Albanian national questions.

Dielli is institutionally part of Vatra rather than a separately incorporated entity. The federation is recognized by the IRS as Pan Albanian Federation Of America Vatra The Hearth Inc, tax-exempt since January 1966, and Dielli shares Vatra's Bronx address and contact channels. Albanian-American groups in New York, including the Albanian American Open Hand Association, have publicly credited Dielli for its support, reflecting its standing as a hub for the community in the city and beyond.
