Albanian American Civic League

The Albanian American Civic League (AACL) was founded in January 1989 by former U.S. Congressman Joseph J. DioGuardi and a board of Albanian-American associates. Headquartered in Ossining, New York, at PO Box 70, it describes itself as the only Albanian-American lobby group in Washington, D.C., working on U.S. foreign policy toward the Balkans.

The League's stated mission is to fight for the human rights and self-determination of Albanians. Its objectives include genuine independence for Kosova, equal rights for Albanians in Macedonia, Montenegro, the Presheva Valley, and Chameria, and democracy and economic freedom in Albania. The work runs through Congressional legislation, advocacy, fact-finding missions in the Balkans, research, and policy analyses, in coordination with foreign policy leaders in the U.S. House and Senate.

Its substantive policy work covers Albanian communities across the Balkans, while its constituency in the United States is the Albanian-American community it represents in Washington. According to IRS Form 990 filings, the AACL reported annual revenue of $52,230, including $26,640 in grants, and remained active in 2025. Joseph DioGuardi continues to be listed directly under the organization at its Ossining address, and the League maintains a public-facing presence through aacl.com and a Facebook page with more than 6,000 followers.
