Shkolla Shqipe Gjergj Fishta (Long Island)

Shkolla Shqipe Gjergj Fishta is an Albanian-language weekend school for children of the diaspora on Long Island, New York. It teaches Albanian language, reading, and writing alongside Albanian history, songs, and traditions, serving second-generation kids whose families want them to grow up fluent in the language and connected to the culture.

The school is active in Bay Shore and the surrounding Long Island Albanian community. Its students and teachers have taken part in a multicultural event hosted by a Bay Shore public school, presenting Albanian culture to the wider student body, and Albanian-language press has covered the school under the name "Shkolla Shqipe 'Gjergj Fishta' – Long Island, New York."

Beyond classroom instruction, the school puts on regular concerts and community programs. Students performed at a musical concert marking the 18th anniversary of Kosovo's independence, co-organized with Vatra Long Island, and the school has staged an artistic concert for International Children's Day 2026 along with end-of-year Christmas and New Year celebrations with parents and families.

Gazeta Dielli and ALB TVUSA both covered the opening of the 2025–2026 school year, framing the school as a cultural anchor for Albanian families on Long Island. Its collaboration with Vatra and its presence inside Bay Shore school events place it in the working network of Albanian-American institutions in the New York metro area.
