Bijte e Shqipes (Sons of the Eagle) — National Albanian Social Cultural Association

Bijte e Shqipes — also called Sons of the Eagle, and formally the National Albanian Social Cultural Association — is the main Albanian cultural nonprofit in Philadelphia. The group describes its mission as uniting the Albanian community and preserving the Albanian language, culture, and national identity through cultural programming, patriotic events, and an Albanian school.

The school is the core of the day-to-day work. Children learn to speak, read, and write Albanian, and they learn traditional songs and dances, with the stated goal that each student connects with their roots. Around that program, the association runs cultural activities highlighting Albanian heritage and figures, and serves as a gathering point for Albanian-American families in the Philadelphia area.

In 2018 the organization acquired the historic 1803 Lower Dublin Academy building, which it is restoring into a permanent home for the Albanian school and community center. The project gives the group both a physical anchor in Philadelphia and a long-term restoration commitment tied to one of the city's older surviving schoolhouses.

Its most recent reported annual revenue is $136,368, modest funding that goes toward the school, cultural events, and the Lower Dublin Academy restoration.
