FAQ.
Quick answers to the questions every prospective ambassador asks. If yours isn't here, email contact@albanianregistry.org.
-
Is this a paid role?
No. Ambassador is a volunteer role. We reimburse event expenses (food, venue, materials) when you submit receipts. Long-term, when NAR is funded, the board will revisit compensation — but the founding team is volunteer.
-
How much time does it take?
Roughly 2 hours a month, plus one event a year. Most of it is sharing your link and replying to questions in your community. The kit makes the heavy lifting easy — pre-written posts, pre-written emails, pre-baked flyer.
-
What if I'm not on social media?
Fine. The role works through any channel where Albanians gather — family WhatsApp, community-org newsletters, the pizzeria where the owner knows everyone, the cousin who runs the chamber of commerce. Pick the channels you use.
-
Do I need to speak Albanian?
No. Many of our ambassadors are second- or third-generation and speak English only. The kit comes in EN and SQ — pick what fits your audience. If you can write in both, that's a bonus, not a requirement.
-
What if I don't know anyone in my state's Albanian community yet?
That's common. Half the role is finding the network — pizzeria owners, AANO chapter boards, cultural-center directors, the elder who runs the WhatsApp group. We'll point you to the people we know in your state on the intro call.
-
Can two of us share a state?
Yes. Especially in NY, MA, MI — states with multiple metro areas. We can split by metro (e.g., Boston + Western MA) or by community (e.g., NYC Catholic Albanian + NYC Muslim Albanian). Apply separately and mention the partner on your application.
-
What if I want to step back later?
Email the board, set status to 'paused.' No drama, no pressure. Resume when you're ready. Don't ghost — that's how a state goes uncovered for a year.
-
Are there ambassadors in countries other than the U.S.?
Not yet. The current scope is U.S. states. We'll open international ambassador slots once the U.S. is built out — Canada, UK, Germany, Italy, Switzerland are the obvious next markets given the diaspora map.
-
Will my name and photo be public?
Yes — that's the point. Ambassadors are listed on /regional-leads with a name, headshot, region, and short bio. We don't list ambassadors who haven't approved their public listing.
-
What happens if I don't hit the 90-day numbers?
Nothing punitive. The numbers are targets, not quotas — they exist so you have a yardstick. If you're under, the board pings to see what's blocking you. If you're way over, we ask if you want to scale.
-
Can I run my own NAR event without telling the board?
Tell the board first. Not for permission — for support. We can chip in for venue, send swag, route press. An ambassador event off the radar that goes wrong reflects on every ambassador.
-
Do I get any swag?
Yes. Approved ambassadors get a starter kit in the mail — pin, sticker pack, business cards with your QR. We'll ask for your shipping address after the intro call.
-
What's the difference between an ambassador and a volunteer?
Volunteers help on specific projects (translation, design, research, events). Ambassadors are regional leads — listed publicly, with a referral link and a region. You can be a volunteer first and an ambassador later, or apply directly to the ambassador role.
-
Who do I email if I have a question that isn't here?
contact@albanianregistry.org. The board reads it. Reply latency is usually 1-3 days.
