Michigan holds the second-largest Albanian-American community in the country, roughly 26,000 to 27,000 people of Albanian ancestry by the American Community Survey, and almost all of it sits in metro Detroit. The center of community life is Rochester Hills, in Oakland County, anchored by Saint Paul Albanian Catholic Church — described by the parish as the largest Albanian Catholic parish outside the homeland. The residential core is concentrated in Macomb County, including Sterling Heights, with families across Oakland and Wayne.

That geography tells you how to read a listing. A "Rochester Hills" event is almost always the St. Paul parish or its grounds; a "Sterling Heights" event sits in the residential core; a "Comerica Park" event is downtown Detroit. The marquee sporting event is the Drita Cup, a Memorial Day-weekend soccer tournament hosted by Drita Soccer Club on the St. Paul grounds, pulling Albanian-diaspora teams and families from across Michigan and Ontario. A long-established MLB franchise earning the community a recurring slot is a measure of how rooted Albanian Detroit has become.
